Entertainment at Sesame Place San Diego

During our recent trip to California, we made a stop at the all new Sesame Place theme park in Chula Vista, which is located in southwest San Diego.

Part of the fun of visiting the Sesame Place theme park is the thrill of meeting and seeing all of your favorite characters from the Street. That is, unless your favorite character is Mr. Snuffleupagus, he was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, many other friends were there!

The different forms of entertainment include character meet n greets, parades, book readings, and stage shows.

Character meet n greets happen daily, but rotate several different characters each day, though I believe Elmo is a daily greeter. Since the characters change every day, be sure to check the app the day of your visit to see who is meeting and at what times. Most only meet once or twice, so be sure to find your favorite characters!

While at Sesame Place, be sure to check out Storytime with Big Bird. The ‘with’ is the keyword. Unfortunately Big Bird is not reading the story, however, he is sitting in his nest listening intently as the storyteller reads the book to all the children gathering around. He also has some important questions to ask. After the book reading concludes, be sure to stick around to get a picture with everyone’s favorite big yellow bird!

Taking place in the Sesame Street Theater is the stage production, Welcome to our Street. Watch the characters as they try to determine what kind of show they should put on for their guests!

The parade, which typically happens just once a day, brings all your cuddly friends to one place, Sesame Street! The parade consists of about a half dozen floats and roughly a dozen of your favorite characters. Once all the vehicles are lining the street, the characters come off the floats and a large street dance party ensues. See Elmo, Abby, Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster, the Count, Big Bird and more show off their dance moves! See the full parade below!

If you’re ready to start exploring a visit to Sesame Place San Diego, I recommend checking out Undercover Tourist for your ticket options. I’ve already used them twice, once at Disneyland and once at Disney World and will plan to continue comparing their prices with other sites, however I usually come back to UT because they have the best deals and their instructions make it easy to add your tickets to the Disney apps.
