During our recent trip to Sesame Place San Diego, we were able to ride each of the land based rides. I will be sharing a short review as well as some 360° pictures and ride videos.

Today’s ride review is from Super Grover’s Boxcar Derby. This rollercoaster takes you up a short hill and drops you into a race around a figure 8 track.
When the ride begins, you’re facing away from the rest of the track, so you start by doing a 180 turn, then head immediately up the only real elevation climb of the ride. The 360° picture above is the view from the top.
The hill then drops you into a figure 8, where you do a circle to the left, then straighten out and do another circle to the right before zooming towards the finish line!

As you can see, the ride was short, maybe 45 seconds once we got started, but thrilling. I’d say we probably got up to about 30 mph. You can hear my daughter screaming the entire way, she said it was because she was having fun. Seemed like it was more from fear, but glad she liked it.

If you’re ready to start exploring a visit to Sesame Place San Diego, I recommend checking out Undercover Tourist for your ticket options. I’ve already used them twice, once at Disneyland and once at Disney World and will plan to continue comparing their prices with other sites, however I usually come back to UT because they have the best deals and their instructions make it easy to add your tickets to the Disney apps.
