The show, which takes place in front of the Tree of Life, begins when a recorded messaging welcomes guests to the area.  As guests begin to arrive, so do a couple of Macaws:

As the crowd is wowed by the beautiful Macaws sweeping in and jumping from trainer to trainer, the shows host Josh greets the guests and encourages everyone to gather around before introducing the rest of the castmates and the birds that have joined us.

Josh describes how they like to use positive reinforcement training using treats to reward positive behavior and build relationships with their birds.  He acknowledges that the birds are great in the wild or in a place like Animal Kingdom, but that they make terrible pets.

A couple of the top 3 reasons were on full display during the show.  The birds scream loudly, which a couple of the birds chimed in with agreement. They also poop a lot.  One of the birds right in front of us pooped on a cast member!  A couple other negative reasons to have a macaw as a pet is that their beaks are sharp and can tear furniture and other things apart and the birds live a really long time.

A few minutes into the show, Josh invited everyone to step closer to him as the main attraction was about to come in. Just a few seconds later, coming from behind the Tree of Life, the skies above were swarming with many beautiful Macaws right over our head!

The birds all landed on the tree roots surrounding Josh as he introduced us to each of the birds and discuss some of the differences in each of the various species of the macaw.

A few seconds later, the birds all took off right over our heads and flew back to their home in the Animal Kingdom.

If you’re ready to start exploring a Walt Disney World or Disneyland family vacation, I recommend checking out Undercover Tourist for your ticket options. I’ve already used them twice, once at Disneyland and once at Disney World and will plan to continue comparing their prices with other sites, however I usually come back to UT because they have the best deals and their instructions make it easy to add your tickets to the Disney apps.
